Meet a Jane: Alison Hamner Craig
Posted on March 29, 2011 - Filed Under Go Jane Go, Meet a Jane, Which Jane Are You?
Alison Hamner Craig is the owner of 3 Impressions, inc. There are two major components to Alison’s business: Alison custom designs handbags, jewelry and makeup and sells her products in boutique retail stores and online and she also coaches women to own and embrace who they are both inside and out. Alison started 3 Impressions, inc a little over 2 years ago. Before that her company was called Alison Craig and Associates, but she shared with us that a few years into business she quickly learned that no one knew how to spell “Alison” or “Associates”!
We asked Alison about why she started her business: “When it came to starting my business, I knew how I wanted to help women and no one else was doing it the way I saw the need. So the only solution was to start my own company. We help entrepreneurial women from around the world own the room, own their presence, and own their marketplace. Our clients walk into a room and everyone wants to meet them. We help them be dynamic and authentic so that they can share their message everywhere they go.”
Alison went on to explain her process for helping women: “Currently in addition to our handbags, jewelry and makeup lines we also consult, host live events, and share our message by way of webinars. We (my business partner husband and I) do this by teaching the 5 steps to the “I.T.” Factor SynergySM which include: Heart, Body, Face, Tone, and Style. We are proud to say that we have clients throughout the US and also in the UK, in Canada, and in Australia.”
With every great endeavor comes challenges and when we asked Alison to share what challenges she faced in her business, she had this to say: “My greatest challenge is finding the right people to delegate the work to. I have delegated certain tasks of the business many times, sometimes with great success and some with not so great success. No matter what, I always see what works, learn from my mistakes, and keep moving forward; always asking for advice from women who have gone it before me.”
After taking the free Which Jane Are You? assessment at www.JaneOutoftheBox.com, Alison found that she is a Go Jane Go. Based on her huge heart and her tendency to say yes, yes, yes and give, give, give, Alison agrees with her assessment results: “I am so a Go Jane Go. I view my work as my mission so I am extremely dedicated to our clients, vendors, and everyone involved. I want everyone to succeed so I am known for helping people out in the oddest of ways. My personal and business life blur easily because my business is my heart.”
Alison had great advice for fellow Go Jane Gos: “Delegate the areas where you are the weakest in now. Give yourself the time to do what you do best and know that delegation doesn’t mean that you lose control. You just gain freedom.” For Alison, freedom has been her favorite thing about running her own business: “I love not being confined by arbitrary rules. If I want to go above and beyond for a client, it is totally my call.”
