Kita Szpak is a writer, publicist, communications strategist, and speaker. She opened her consulting business, KS Communications, in 1992. Armed with honors degrees in German and Education from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada, as well as business management certification from the Queen’s School of Business, Kita cross-pollinates sound business principals with marketing savvy. She has spent over ten years working with prominent Canadian artists, musicians and writers such as Robert Farrell, Maria Knapik, Firdaus Kharas, and Elisabeth Harvor. She recently promoted country music stars Dwight Yoakam, Vince Gill, Jo Dee Messina and Alan Jackson. At the end of 2009, Kita published her first children’s book, “You’re Special Wherever You Are” (http://picturebookstories.com). Kita recently collaborated with Monique MacKinnon to pen Tipping Point to Happiness (www.tippingpointtohappiness.com), a “how-to” handbook outlining the steps to take to be personally happy by exploring what is within.
Kita has always expressed a great desire for flexibility and independence in her life, which was the impetus for starting her own business. “When working for other people,” said Kita, “I performed well, but felt somewhat constricted by their schedule, their objectives and their compensation. These factors prompted me to start my own company, KS Communications.” Working with many talented and passionate people has been Kita’s greatest reward as a business owner. “They have inspired me to take my creative a step further,” said Kita. “Results of these new business connections include a children’s book, as well as the newly released Tipping Point to Happiness (www.tippingpointtohappiness.com).”
After taking the free Which Jane Are You? assessment at www.JaneOutoftheBox.com , Kita discovered that she is a Jane Dough. “I am definitely Jane Dough,” said Kita. “I am focused on my business and aspire to draw a six-figure income with my writing and speaking. I am the go-to entertainment publicist in my area. The most challenging issue is managing time to generate passive streams of income so that I can spend more time with family, as well as write, run, and travel.” Kita can also relate to Go Jane Go as she feels it is important to give back. “I have stretched myself thin in the past by saying ‘yes’ to too many people,” said Kita. “I have learned to say ‘no’ graciously and to honor my personal boundaries.”
Jane Doughs, Kita wants you to remember your strengths. “I believe that self-confidence and persistence are crucial for owning and growing a business successfully. Believing in yourself is the key to having others believe in you.”
